VMware Horizon 7.1 What are the cool new things and limitations
On 16 march 2017, VMware Released a new version of Horizon 7, In this blog i will bundle some of the new things.
When a new version of Horizon is released, i browse the release notes for supported versions of Windows 10. I’m happy to see that VMware made a list of all supported versions of Windows 10 with the supported Horizon version.

Some cool new features;
- Composer is now supported on a Windows server 2016
- Installing the connection server is now supported on Windows server 2016
- Instant Clone RDS host is now supported on server 2016.
- RDS Instant clone, provides the ability to rapidly provision RDS host in no time
- unauthenticated access for users to access RDS applications from the Horizon Client without requiring AD credentials
- Vsphere full clone virtual machine encryption is now supported with VMware vSphere 6.5
- Horizon Client Information plug-in ( Link )
- Nvidia Grid vGPUs for instant clone desktops with protocol PCoIP ( Tech preview)
- Putting the host in maintenance mode, will automatically delete the instant clone parents
- Users can now restart their own virtual desktop from the client menu, without contacting one of the admins
Some limitations
- Horizon does not supports the Active Directory domain functional level server 2016
- Windows 10 build 1703 is not supported
- Windows 8 or 8.1 are not supported
- Horizon Composer/events database supports only the following Windows sql versions;
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP2
(32- and 64-bit)

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 with or without SP1
(32- and 64-bit)
